Recently, I had a fantastic personal study, as I read Ether 6. I saw the parallel between the Jaredites and the Nephites, then that parallel to my life. The Jaredites couldn't see where they were going, and had no compass. They wholly put their faith in the Lord, and sang the entire journey to the promised land. The Nephites could see where they were going, had a compass, but murmured and were miserable the entire journey. The Jaredites had to exercise more faith, and had a brilliant journey! Then, as I read that the winds and waves pushed them to the promised land, I saw how our trials and afflictions push us to be who God wants us to be.
What surprised me most was when I saw an Ensign talk the next day, where someone else with depression wrote a similar article! [here]
It's been a good week. Ups and downs, but without them, we wouldn't have a heartbeat. :)
I'm happy. :) Though I was stressed this morning / last night about helping the district, I realized I was sad because I couldn't see my efforts taking effect. I'm happy now, because I've realized that I should measure my success by how much I'm trying, not by the fruit (which I won't see anyway).
Thank you everyone for your prayers and for writing me! :D I love you all, and am so happy to hear from you.
Sorry I haven't replied to all of you - I was a bit swamped. :) and sorry in general for failing at replying to letters in general... And it probably won't get better over the next year, but I'll keep trying. :)
Cheers! Ta!
