Sometimes comes in the form of a lack of trials.
The world tries to remove the negative effects of sin, rather than simply stopping the sin. For example - many people drink energy drinks to compensate for not getting enough sleep / not exercising / not eating right. Rather than fix their actions so the problem doesn't happen again, they try to fix the symptoms of poor choices.
In our world, with increasing medical advances, we go through so many trials of this kind: it's so easy to take some ibuprofen to numb pain, but that pain may be given for a reason! Without seeking the reason behind the pain, we destroy our chances to learn and improve.
Of course, medicine is not evil - healing is of God. But when we rob ourselves the opportunity to learn, grow, and progress morally and in our willpower, we cheat ourselves of true progression!
This is a HUGE problem in our world today - people seek (and find) immediate solutions to the symptoms of trials, rather than seek to remove the trial itself (which often will come through course correction, rather than chemicals). (inspired, in part, by my last companion, Elder Clawson)
food for thought. :)
I'm doing fairly well, though a bit sick. But a bit of a cold and a sore leg won't keep me down! >:D I intend to fully serve the Lord with all my strength for this last move, and nothing in heaven or hell can hold me back, so long as I remain rooted in Christ.
Love you all! Cheers!
